Who ever said you can fool some of the people all of the time and all of the people some of the time but you can't fool all of the people all of the time had to have had a politician in mind. However, this week it would appear that big business also can be included as prime candidates for the fool the public time. When the opposition party dared to suggest that the Trade Unions were behind the exodus of big companies from our State (Vic.) all hell broke loose. But it did not need much intelligent scrutinising to realise that any or all of the business's mentioned were backing off for fear of the trade unions taking further action in the future which would jeopardise their economic outlook. While governments continue to bow and scrape to the trade unions, along with backroom bribes and payouts, there will always be economic uncertainty. Far be it for me to educate the voting public but my many years of experience has shown me to not be too far off the mark in my remarks of the day. All too often give a little take a little ends up more like give an inch take a mile. Update 25/12/06 - I get the impression my above remarks say it all. The IR protests would appear to only inconvenience the general public. It is my fear that freedom of speech could be at a real risk. I for one have never relied on a union to back my cause - call me old fashioned but I believe in a fair day's work for a fair day's pay - it worked for me - it should be allowed to work for all. |
